Dalithoy

Dalithoy or Daali Toy is very simple and healthy soup made with split yellow lentils. ‘Daali’ in Konkani is daal or lentil. People make many versions of it. As you travel from Goa to Kasaragod along the coast of Karnataka you will taste different versions of it. Having dal as the base, dalithoy is an exclusive delicacy usually prepared in the homes of those belonging to the konkani community from where it had originated.You could call it the pride of konkani cuisine or god's gift to the konkani community. It is a most popular and commonly used side dish in Konkani homes. It is the distinctive savoury and simplicity in its preparation that makes it a highly preferred dish. Of recent times people of other cultures too are acknowledging its beauty.
