- D. Gwalia
-
Songwriter & Performer, based in Oxford.
Born in Aberystwyth in 1984
D. Gwalia has performed across UK and in Europe. In 2010 he released debut album In Puget Sound. The album was critically acclaimed in both local press and national publications. Comparisons were drawn with the work of American film-maker David Lynch, due to In Puget Sound's 'other-worldly' atmosphere.
D. Gwalia is regarded as one of the seminal exponents of 'folk-noir', a genre of music based on traditional folk with gothic and postmodern elements. In 2009 D. Gwalia was the first musical artist to be granted permission by the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford, to perform original compositions using one of the museum's exhibits, a 200 year old Harmonium. D.
