D.L.V. "Nji Sri" (in full De Landbouwers Vereniging "Nji Sri" in English The Agricultural Association “Nji Sri” often shortly called "Nji Sri") is a student association in Wageningen, The Netherlands. The Agricultural association “Nji Sri” was founded in 1904 in Wageningen, it moved along with the Middelbare Koloniale Landbouwschool (High Colonial Agricultural College) to Deventer in 1912. Since 2006, after many mergers and changes of names the courses are now part of Hogeschool Van Hall Larenstein in Wageningen. That year, together with the relocation of the courses, “Nji Sri” moved to Wageningen.
Until 1973 “Nji Sri” was a student body carrying the name “Deventer Landbouw Corps” (Deventer Agricultural Corps) (D.L.C.). In 1919 originated from the merger of the “Vereniging Landbouwsociëteit “Nji-Sri” (1904), the school magazine “Orang Peladang” (1914) and the sports club “De Kalongs” (The Flying-foxes) (1912). Today’s association has still these three components. The association has, after many times moved, still the name “Nji Sri” in which “Lady Nji Sri” the central place. The “Orang Peladang” (working man) has since the formation of the corps, always been the union body of the members and alumni. And also “De Kalongs” are still there, though they host besides sport activities also festivities these days. By a merger in 1973 of the D.L.C. and the Deventer Agricultural Association the name changed to Deventer Agricultural Association “Nji Sri”. In 2006 the official name became “The Agricultural Association “Nji Sri” after they moved from Deventer to Wageningen.
Nji Sri is the goddess of fertility and rice from the Indian Mahabharata. In the past, many students of the Deventer Sugar School went to the tropics (Indonesia) to work in the agricultural sector. Still, many former members are engaged in agriculture, not always in the primary (tropical) agriculture, but often in agribusiness.
The honorary president of the association is James van Lidth de Jeude, succeeding H.R.H. Prince Bernhard. Former members of the association are united in the “Reunion Agricultural Association Nji Sri”. One of the most famous former members and honorary member of “Nji Sri” is the late Dr. S.L. (Sicco) Mansholt, as one can read in his memoirs.[citation needed]
