"Little Fish" is a musical by Michael John LaChiusa which premiered at the Second Stage Theatre in New York City, starring Jennifer Laura Thompson in the lead role of Charlotte. It opened February 13, 2003 and closed March 9, 2003. During the run educational workshops were run by Tracy Bersley. According to Playbill News, Alice Ripley starred in a West Coast run of Little Fish from October 9, 2007 to November 18, 2007 at The Blank Theatre.The first University production and New England premiere was performed in November of 2006 at Emerson College. It was directed by Noah Himmelstein and starred Amanda Smith, Ben Martin, and Haley Bond Petersen in the lead roles.

Recordings

The cast recording of the Blank Theatre Company's production of Little Fish is due on the Ghostlight Records label Sept. 9. The cast of the Blank Theatre Company run — including Alice Ripley (as Charlotte), Chad Kimball (Marco), Gregory Jbara (Mr. Bunder), Robert Torti (Robert), Dina Morishita (Kathy), German Santiago (John Paul), Samantha Shelton (Cinder) and Brooke Tansley (Anne) — recorded the CD Nov. 12, 2007.

A release party/concert was held at Joe's Pub in New York City on September 8, 2008. The evening — featuring songs from Little Fish, See What I Wanna See, Bernarda Alba and other LaChiusa scores — will boast the talents of Alice Ripley, Lea DeLaria, Gregory Jbara, Dina Morishita, Mary Testa, Judy Kuhn, Julia Murney, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Matthew Morrison, Andrew Samonsky, Gavin Creel and Kate Shindle.
