Cunningham Peak

Cunningham Peak (79°16′S 86°12′W / 79.267°S 86.2°W / -79.267; -86.2) is a mainly ice-covered peak, 2,170 m, at the head of Gowan Glacier along the Founders Escarpment, in the Heritage Range. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1961-66. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Ship's Serviceman John B. Cunningham, U.S. Navy, in charge of the McMurdo Station ship's store and laundry during U.S. Navy Operation Deepfreeze 1966.
