History
The club's history dates back to 1952 when the club was founded in the city of Cuautla, Mexico and join the Segunda División Profesional. At in 1953-54 the club finished runner-up, but due to the increase of clubs in the Primera División de México, the federation organized a promotional playoff series with Cuautla, two another teams from the Segunda División Profesional, Zamora and Querétaro, and the last two teams in the Primera División de México, Atlante and Marte. At the end, Cuautla was promoted, Marte was relegated, Querétaro remained int the Segunda División Profesional, and Atlante F.C. remained in the top division.
The club played 4 years in the First division till its relegation in 1958-59 season.
The club has never returned to the First division but came close on two occasions. One in 1971-72, the other in 1978-79, both times losing to Atlas in a promotion match.
Cuautla in modern times
The clubs has played on and off in the Segunda División Profesional since the club last first division appearance in 1959.
