Cryo-Save is Europe's largest cord blood bank with over 170'000 samples stored and 50% of market share. It it is based in Pfäffikon, Switzerland. It operates certified laboratories in the following countries: Belgium (main laboratory), India, France, Germany and Dubai. The name Cryo-Save aims at identifying its business area. It CRYOgenizes stem cells in order to SAVE them for later use. The Company is listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.[1]

History
Cryo-Save was founded in 2000. In 2003 the Group changed its name from Cryo-Cell to Cryo-Save following its decision to terminate the license with Cryo-Cell. The year second half of the 2000s and especially 2008 saw a large number of acquisitions which transformed the Company into a global business.
Commercial activity
The Company started to store umbilical cord blood and cord tissue (Wharton's jelly) stem cells. This remains its core business still today but cord tissue is offered in most countries. In May 2010, Cryo-Save launches an adipose tissue stem cell storage service: Cryo-Lip.
Laboratories
The main laboratory is located in Niel, Belgium. In covers the whole of Europe and of Africa. Samples coming from the Indian subcontinent are stored in Bangalore. The Middle Eastern customers are served by the Dubai facility. The laboratories are all accredited ISO and AABB (still in progress at some locations). Every sample is stored in two parts in what is called a dual storage strategy.
