History
Crossgate AG was founded as indatex SCI GmbH in 2001 by Stefan Tittel. In 2006 indatex SCI GmbH changed its name to Crossgate AG [3]. That same year, Dietmar Hopp[4], founder and major shareholder of SAP AG became financially involved and Crossgate's operations were expanded.
On 14 October 2008, SAP AG announced at SAP TechED 2008 Berlin.[2] that it has made a strategic investment by taking a minority stake in Crossgate, a business-to-business (B2B) integration service provider. This follows several deployments of Crossgate’s B2B 360° Services, which utilizes SAP to enable mulltienterprise B2B integration (which SAP calls "business network transformation"), one of the fundamental points of SAP's future strategy[5]. Financial details have not been disclosed but a SAP Executive Board Member has joined the Crossgate Supervisory Board.
Business and Services
Business-Ready Network
Crossgate offers the world's first Business-Ready Network that supports standards-based and custom EDI and B2B, guaranteeing 100% integration of business partners, clients and suppliers. A single connection to the Network means electronic data exchange with any business partner regardless of their technical capability. In addition, Crossgate's B2B-360° Services, powered by SAP [6], provide clients direct access to all integrated business partners in the B2B transaction network via their SAP systems.
The beauty of the network approach is its "one to one" ratio versus traditional "one to many" architecture. This makes changing, upgrading or expanding a company's B2B infrastructure much easier because they would only need to unplug from the network and then plug back in after the changes are completed. Since the Crossgate network isn't map or language dependent, expanding into foreign or emerging markets and connecting to their systems is as easy as connecting to the network.
e-Invoicing
With its legally compliant e-Invoicing (electronic billing) Services, Crossgate also provides an innovative and 100% secure solution to cover the entire process of incoming and outgoing invoices, including signatures, EU compliance monitoring, and revision-secure automated long-term archiving. More than 40,000 business partners, representing over 10 industries, currently exchange documents and data via the Business-Ready Network.
SAP
B2B 360 Services powered by SAP provide fixed-cost service extensions to help customers simplify trading partner integration with SAP Business Suite and other SAP applications.
Crossgate AG has developed a set of core service extensions for SAP Business Suite applications including SAP ERP and SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) as well as for SAP Business All-in-One solutions. In order to simplify business network enablement, Crossgate has pre-packaged B2B 360 Services powered by SAP software for specific business processes, industries and SAP applications. The joint collaboration by Crossgate AG and SAP AG, provides a set of core service extensions to streamline and reduce the cost of enabling end-to-end business processes, such as order-to-cash and procure-to-pay.
The main shareholders of Crossgate AG are the SAP founder's family Dietmar Hopp, Otto Wolff von Amerongen and the Al-Jomaih Investment Group [7].
