Crimson Knight only had the one start as a two-year-old, showing great ability as he galloped and still claimed the minor prize by placing third. Trained by Bill Galea of Rockbank,[1] Crimson Knight won over five races as a three-year-old, when he raced the best of his age, including Lombo Pocket Watch, Lombo Mandingo and many others. At the age of three, he ran in the Victoria Derby, placing sixth due to an interference caused by Singasongasixpence. His four-year-old season was incredible but as a five-year-old, he won the heat and final of the Spring Championship,[2] running 1:58.2, which was his best winning mile rate. In January 2009, he competed against some of the best horses, including Diamonds and Furs and Gotta Go Cullen. He sat behind the leader the whole way but was unlucky - Diamonds and Furs died as they were turning into the home straight, causing him to finish about seventh. Just after the Group 1 South Australia Cup, he suffered a quarter crack. He is still suffering from this and has not yet returned to racing.
