Web Award nomination

The website was short-listed for an Eircom Golden Web Awards news award shortly after beginning its operation.

It ran in the Awards against a number of national radio broadcasters and a government website.[2]

The category was ultimately won by national talk radio station, Newstalk.

Closure

In July 2011 the closure of Cork Student News was announced via Facebook. The website's closure was undertaken in order to focus the writers' efforts on an upcoming national student news website for which it had just received notice of obtaining incubation office space.

Although the website is currently inactive, no final decision has been taken with regard to its future.
