Coprinellus Domesticus is larger than the similar C. Micaceus (Glistening ink cap) and often mistaken for C. Micaceus. An identifying feature of C. Domesticus is the 'Rusty' colored carpet (Hyphal mat or Ozonium) that the fruiting body grows from, these strands will often pull up with the fruiting body when picked, looking like a 'carpet' attached to the stipe.
C. Domesticus is considered inedible. Grows in limited clusters, often trooping closely, on or near decaying wood.
