Coor Crags

Coor Crags (74°29′S 136°36′W / 74.483°S 136.6°W / -74.483; -136.6) is a several rock crags standing 3.5 nautical miles (6 km) southeast of Cox Point in the north part of Erickson Bluffs, near the coast of Marie Byrd Land. The feature was first observed and photographed from aircraft of the United States Antarctic Service (USAS), 1939-41. Mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1959-65. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Lieutenant Commander Lawrence W. Coor, U.S. Navy, pilot of LC-130 Hercules aircraft during Operation Deep Freeze 1970 and 1971.
