- Consecration crosses
-
Crosses on the walls of a catholic church or cathedral showing where the catholic bishop has anointed the church with chrism oil in order to consecrate it "for the Glory of God". There is usually a place for a candle in front of each cross which is lit on the anniversary of the consecration. The crosses are considered an important sign of the sacredness of the church.[1]
