"The Buddha of Suburbia", directed by Roger Michell, was a 1993 television miniseries, produced and aired by the BBC in the United Kingdom. It was based on the novel by Hanif Kureishi.
The programme starred Naveen Andrews as the title character, Karim Amir. Other cast members included David Bamber, Harish Patel, Brenda Blethyn, Roshan Seth, Jemma Redgrave and Philip Franks.
The programme's soundtrack was written and performed by David Bowie.
Trivia
The 500 extras used in the series - punks, skinheads, suedeheads, musicians and hippies - were all real people cast by actress Barbie Wilde (the Female Cenobite in ").
Segments for the series were filmed at Naveen Andrews' old school Emanuel School.
