- Trombone Concertino (David)
-
The German virtuoso violinist Ferdinand David's Concertino for Trombone and Orchestra, Op. 4, was composed in 1837. It is a well-known solo for trombonists and is one of the first pieces composed for the trombone in the western world. It was dedicated to Karl Traugott Queisser who was a famous soloist of the time. This notation is from a set of hand-copied parts recently discovered.[citation needed] It consists of 3 movements:
- I. Allegro Maestoso
- II. Marcia Funebre
- III. Allegro Maestoso
The piece has been recorded by Michael Ostrander, Carl Lenthe, Christian Lindberg, among others.
