Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back is a 2010 best selling Christian book written by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. The book documents an alleged near death experience and purported visit to Heaven by Burpo's then 4 year old son, Colton.
Summary
Burpo, a Christian pastor, claims that during the months after emergency surgery, Colton began describing events and people it was impossible for him to have seen or met. Examples include his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born.[1] Colton also made other extra-biblical claims, such as that his deceased great-grandfather now possessed wings, and that the Holy Spirit was blue and had the ability to "shoot down power" to his father, Todd. He also stated that he had personally sat in Jesus' lap, and looked into Jesus' blue eyes. [2][3][4] Within three weeks of its November 2010 release, the book debuted at #3 on the New York Times bestseller list. By January 2011, there were 200,000 copies in print, and the book hit #1 on the New York Times list.[5]
