History
The club was formed on January 1, 2006 through a merger of the Collectors Club of Washington (founded in 1927) and the Washington Philatelic Society (founded in 1905).
Location
The club holds its meetings at the Christ Methodist Church, 300 Eye Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Visitors are welcome and may obtain membership at the meeting.
Services
Services offered by the club are: trading or buying and selling stamps and covers; philatelic programs for advanced and beginning collectors; four to six auctions conducted yearly; stamp circuit books made available; philatelic contests; awards banquet and end-of-year holiday party; refreshments, snacks; and, donations to junior collectors.
Publications
The club publishes its newsletter Washington City Despatch on a bimonthly basis.
Club awards
The DeVoss Trophy is awarded to the member who s performed outstanding service for the Club during the past year. The Gantz Cup is awarded to a non-member who has provided outstanding service to stamp collecting during the past year.
Organization
The club is administered by a president, vice president, executive secretary, recording secretary, and treasurer. Committees include: Sales Circuits, Membership & Promotion, Newsletter Editors, Club Cover Sales, American Philatelic Society Representative, Historian, and Website.
