The population was 474 at the 2000 census. It was named for Levi G. Clover, then prothonotary of the county.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 16.2 square miles (42 km2), all of it land. The Borough of Summerville is contained wholly within the township. There are also two unincorporated villages, Baxter and Content located in the township as well.
Demographics
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 474 people, 189 households, and 150 families residing in the township. The population density was 29.3 people per square mile (11.3/km²). There were 216 housing units at an average density of 13.4/sq mi (5.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 99.37% White, 0.21% from other races, and 0.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.21% of the population.
There were 189 households out of which 32.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.2% were married couples living together, 4.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% were non-families. 18.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 2.82.
In the township the population was spread out with 21.1% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 28.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 107.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 112.5 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $35,250, and the median income for a family was $40,104. Males had a median income of $28,056 versus $20,500 for females. The per capita income for the township was $15,661. About 8.9% of families and 8.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.1% of those under age 18 and 7.4% of those age 65 or over.
