Cloud Foundry is free, open source cloud computing platform as a service (PaaS) software developed by VMware released as free software under the terms of the Apache License 2.0. Written in Ruby.

Although the source code offers an Apache 2.0 license, contributions are governed by the VMware contributors license for individuals and corporations. These license grant both copyright and patent access and protection to the VMware corporation.
