Clod Ensemble

Clod Ensemble is a performance company and registered charity [1] based in London, UK. Founded in 1995 by composer Paul Clark and director Suzy Willson, the company creates performances, workshops and other events in the UK and internationally.[2]

Their productions include: Under Glass whose performers are encased within a series of glass containers and jars (Winner of the Total Theatre Award for Visual/Physical Theatre in 2009),[3] Red Ladies a chorus piece for 18 identically dressed women [4] and Must a collaboration with New York performer Peggy Shaw.[5]

Performances take place in traditional theatre spaces, festivals, galleries and also in found and public spaces. These have included Trafalgar Square, Victoria and Albert Museum, Sadler's Wells, South Bank Centre, Serralves Museum in Portugal, Public Theatre and La Mama in New York, and festivals including London International Mime Festival, Festival of Firsts, Fierce Festival, Glasgay!, Psi (Arizona and London).

They are also known for their Performing Medicine project which uses the arts to help medical students and doctors gain skills relevant to their clinical practice. (Winner of the Times Higher Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Arts, 2007) [6][7]

They also run a programme called Extravagant Acts for Mature People which takes concerts and other performances into daycare centres in London.
