Cleto Rodriguez is a San Antonio-based, nationally touring stand-up comedian. His grandfather Cleto L. Rodriguez was one of Texas' first Congressional Medal of Honor winners.[1]
Rodriguez began performing in 1995, and has worked with comedians George Lopez, Carlos Mencia, Wayne Brady, Brett Butler, Tim Hawkins and Bob Smiley.[2]
Rodriguez performs nationwide in comedy clubs, corporations, colleges and churches, billing himself as a "clean comedian". He was the touring comedian for the 2008 Promise Keepers events in seven U.S. cities.[3]
Rodriguez starred in "The Cleto Show," a weekly late-night sitcom based in San Antonio and created and directed by Cevallos Brothers Production that aired on the FOX affiliate KABB. Actress Eva Longoria served as executive producer.[4] Prior to "The Cleto Show," the comedian worked on an Internet-based "Late Night Live with Cleto Rodriguez" that had been picked up by LAT TV before the network shut down its operations in San Antonio.[5]
Cleto has been performing at Wednesday Night Laughs and Thursday Night Laughs, comedy variety shows that are held monthly at Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club in San Antonio. Rodriguez also performs on the NBC affiliate's San Antonio Living show on WOAI-TV.[6]
