The 1997 Clausura was the closing half-year tournament of the Primera División Peruana 1997. It was played by 14 teams. The winner of this half-year tournament qualified for the Copa Libertadores 1998 and would contest the national championship with the Apertura winner.[1] Each team played 13 fixtures against the other teams. The winner was Alianza Lima and no final championship match was played.
