The first recorded match on the ground was in 1938, when Berkshire played Rajputana. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match when Berkshire played Hertfordshire in 1948. From 1948 to 1983, the ground played host to 41 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final match seeing Berkshire host Cheshire.[1]
The ground has hosted a single first-class match when a combined Minor Counties team played the touring Sri Lankans in 1981.[2]
The ground has also hosted List-A matches. The first List-A match played on the ground was between Berkshire and Somerset in the 1965 Gillette Cup. The ground hosted 3 List-A matches involving Berkshire and a single match with a combined Minor Counties team as the home side against Hampshire in the 1985 Benson & Hedges Cup, which was also the last List-A match played on the ground.[3]
