Christianity in Punjab (India)

Christianity is less than 2 % of the population in Punjab (India), a state of India. Sikhs form the majority in the state. John Lowrie and William Reed were missionaries who went there in 1834. [1] The diocese of Amritsar of the Church of North India has its seat in Punjab. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Jullundur and Roman Catholic Diocese of Ajmer have their seat in the state. Christianity in Punjab (Pakistan) is a minority, too. Punjab (Pakistan) has a Muslim majority. A Protestant church in the Indian province has been burned by Hindus in 2010. [2] There are thousands of settlements with a Christian congregation. [3] From 1881 to 1891 the Christian population of the then still united Punjab increased rapidly. [4] Punjab has Persecution of Christians. [5]
