Most modern-day Christians oppose racism[citation needed] on biblical grounds, citing passages such as Numbers 12 [1] and Galatians 3:28. Historically, Christian clergy who have fought against racism included abolitionists such as William Wilberforce and civil rights activists such as the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.. However, there are some sects, such as Christian Identity, that advocate for racism and antisemitism on theological grounds. Many mainstream Christians view such groups as heretical. [2]See also
