† Appearances (Goals).Christopher Marc 'Chris' Senior (born 18 November 1981) is an English footballer who plays for Alfreton Town as a striker.
Career
Senior started his professional youth team footballing career at Sheffield United at 19. He stayed for one season before 'The Blades' released him, though the Yorkshire-based club recommended him to fellow-county club, Huddersfield Town who signed him. At Huddersfield he was in the same youth system set-up as up-and-coming fellow striker, Jon Stead. After one season 'The Terriers' released him. He started his first-team professional footballing career at age 21 playing for Scarborough. In his two years at the McCain Stadium he played 77 times, scoring 18 goals for 'The Seadogs'. In the summer of 2005, at 23, he moved on to Halifax Town. In his two years at The Shay he played 44 times, scoring six goals for 'The Shaymen'. In April 2007 he was sent on loan to Altrincham, where he played 15 times, scoring three goals. Having impressed 'The Robins' during his loan, they signed him permanently at the end of the season. He went on to play for them a further 108 times, scoring a further 30 goals in his three years at Moss Lane. On 15 May 2010 Senior signed for Darlington, the same day as would-be fellow player, goalkeeper Kelvin Jack. Leaving his previous part-time footballing career, and a job as a part-time massuer, he now has a full-time footballing career.[2][3] Despite all the off-the-field problems over the summer, whilst he was on his honeymoon, and on-the field problems, injuring himself playing during his first pre-season game against Sunderland, he was still enjoying his time at the club so far.[4] He made his competitive debut for his new club against Newport County, in the Conference match in August 2010, playing 66 minutes before being substituted for fellow striker, Tommy Wright.[5] He scored his first goal for his new side against Eastbourne Borough on 4 September 2010.[6] On 7 May 2011, Senior scored the winning goal in the 120+2nd minute of the FA Trophy Final. Then four days later, he was released from his contract by Darlington. He signed for Alfreton Town on 18 June.[7]
