He was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played college football at Western Michigan before transferring to Wisconsin.

College career
Maragos redshirted at Western Michigan in 2005, where he also played as a wide receiver. After the 2006 season he transferred to Wisconsin and sat out a year before resuming play in 2008.
Professional career
Maragos went undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers on April 26, 2010.
San Francisco 49ers
On September 5, Maragos was added to the 49ers' practice squad, activated on October 18, then readded to the practice squad on October 28. He was activated a second time on November 30 and recorded his first career NFL tackle on December 5 against the Green Bay Packers. He was released by the 49ers on September 3, 2011.[1]
Seattle Seahawks
Maragos was signed to the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad on September 22, 2011. The Seahawks promoted him to the active roster on October 22.
