Chopicalqui is a mountain in the Cordillera Blanca (White Range) in the Andes of Peru. With a summit altitude of 6,354 meters (20,846 feet) above sea level, it is one of the Cordillera Blanca's highest peaks. It lies in Yungay Province in Peru's Ancash Region and derives its name from the Quechua words meaning "fits in the center", in reference to its location between the mountains of Huascarán and Contrahierba. The standard climbing route is the Southwest Ridge; a moderate snow climb that is popular with climbers and can be crowded at times. It possesses a difficulty rating of PD+/AD- on the French System for grading alpine routes. Other established climbing routes include the Southeast Ridge (alpine grade TD-) and East Face Direct (alpine grade TD).[1]
