Loyzaga[1] (born August 29, 1958) is a former Filipino basketball player. He played college ball for San Beda College before eventually going on to play professional basketball in the Philippine Basketball Association, where he became a many-time member of the All-Defensive team. Loyzaga played for Tanduay, Toyota, Great Taste, and Ginebra. He also played for the Philippine national basketball team that played at the 1990 Asian Games where he distinguished himself by helping limit North Korean center Ri Myung Hun despite a height discrepancy of over 1 and a half feet between them.
He later became commissioner of the Metropolitan Basketball Association.
Currently, he is one of the appointed Commissioners of Philippine Sports Commission.
Personal life
He is the son of Philippine basketball great Carlos Loyzaga, and Vicky Cuerva. He and brother Joey Loyzaga became one of the few brothers to have played in the PBA, eventually playing for the same team with Ginebra. Chito Loyzaga is married to Toni Loyzaga, with whom he has three children, namely: Celina, Jose Joaquin, and Cecilia.[2] He recently visited the Sultanate of Oman, at the Philippine School Muscat.
