Chinese Maritime Institute

Chinese Maritime Institute also called China Maritime Institute (CMI) was founded on July 11, 1962, and it is a non-profit institute based in the Taipei City, Taiwan. CMI's main mission is to promote and to engage in academic research on maritime and aviation domains. The founding chairman of CMI is the late Professor Kuang Wang. The late Professor Kuang Wang was a leading academic researcher on maritime domain in both China and Taiwan. CMI together with CMRI (Chinese Maritime Research Institutes http://www.cmri.org.tw) is one of the major maritime research organizations in Taiwan. The president of honour for CMI is Prof. Kuan Lin who is also the founder of one of the largest logistics companies, Pacific Star Group, in Taiwan. Current chairman of the CMI is Professor C.C. Chang (http://www.dstm.ntou.edu.tw) of the National Taiwan Ocean University. Professor C.C. Chang is also one of the two deputy president of the National Taiwan Ocean University since May 2011. The 17th Board members of CMI will held their posts for three years from May 27 2011 until May 26 2014.

CMI has established a late Prof. Kuang Wang Scholarship Commission to support students study in the four major maritime universities and colleges in Taiwan, including National Taiwan Ocean University, National Kaohsiung Marine University, KaiNan University, and Taipei College of Maritime Technology.
