It is difficult to find differences between Maculotriton serriale and Maculotriton digitalis (and its synonyms) when one considers shell characters only.[1]

The shell size varies between 11 mm and 24 mm
Distribution
This species is distributed in the Red Sea, in the Indian Ocean along Aldabra, Chagos, Madagascar, the Mascarene Basin and along New Zealand and North and East Australia.
