Personal life
Riley comes from Grindon, Thorpe Thewles. She attended the private Teesside High School from age nine until eighteen.[2] Riley then attended St Cuthbert's Society, Durham University from 2000 to 2003, performing with the Durham Revue and in a number of plays and musicals and graduating with a degree in English and Linguistics; she also attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art from 2005 to 2007.[3]
Charlotte is engaged to actor Tom Hardy. They met when they were cast as the star-crossed lovers in Wuthering Heights in 2009. They went on to star together in The Take. The pair announced their engagement in July 2010 after a year of dating. She currently lives in London.[4]
She also has been in the Royal Court's The Priory by Michael Wynne[5] for which she has had a number of positive reviews.
Career
In 2004, Riley won the Sunday Times' Playwriting Award for the play Shaking Cecilia, which she co-wrote with her university friend, and Durham Revue co-star, Tiffany Wood.[6][7]
