Charles Lacy Tyler (1941–1992) was an American jazz baritone saxophonist.
Tyler was born in Cadiz, Kentucky and spent his childhood years in Indiana, New York City and Cleveland, Ohio. He played piano as a child and clarinet in college.[1][2]
Tyler joined Albert Ayler's group for the recording of Bells and Spirits Rejoice.[2]
In Los Angeles, Tyler worked with Arthur Blythe, Bobby Bradford, and David Murray. He moved back to New York in 1973, where he worked with Cecil Taylor, Dewey Redman, and Billy Bang.[2]
