Business ventures
Pharmaceuticals
In 1997, Hensley and his business partners formed BioDelivery Technologies in order to develop and market new pharmaceutical delivery systems. While at BioDelivery Technologies, Hensley invented Zicam cold remedy, one of the most successful OTC remedies for the common cold on the market. As a means to fast track Zicam to the marketplace, Hensley co-founded Gel Tech, LLC. (now Zicam, LLC.),[2] a joint venture between BioDelivery Technologies, Inc., and Gum Tech International (now Matrixx Initiatives, Inc.).[3] In 2001, Hensley sold his stake in Zicam, LLC. to Matrixx Initiatives, Inc.
In 2001, Hensley formed PRB Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and In 2006, Hensley sold the company's assets to Pacific BioPharmaceuticals.
In 2007, Hensley founded Nasal Therapeutics, Inc. to develop and market homeopathic nasal spray technologies and products. That same year, Nasal Therapeutics, Inc. entered into a licensing agreement with Therabiogen, Inc. (TRAB.OB), which allowed them the exclusive right to manufacture, market and sell three nasal therapeutic homeopathic nasal sprays, THERAMAX Cold and Flu Relief, THERAMAX Allergy Relief and THERAMAX Migraine Relief. As a result of the deal, Hensley became Therabiogen's largest shareholder.
Since 2008, Hensley has limited his involvement in his pharmaceutical companies to executive management duties in order to spend more time on his other companies.
Cosmetics
In 2004, Hensley partnered with a Hong Kong group and formed the Hong Kong based cosmetic company, Jovell. Tapping into Asia's fascination with Hollywood movie stars, Hensley played to the "Hollywood mystique" to market the company's flagship product, "Hollywood Secrets 5 minute eye transformation" and brought in Faye Wong, a major pop star from China, as the company's product ambassador to promote the company's celebrity glamour image. Jovell currently has over thirty products under its high end cosmetic brand and the company has retail boutique shops and cosmetic counters in major department stores throughout Hong Kong and other parts of Asia.
Entertainment
2008 saw a new corporate direction for Hensley. Seeing the leveling of the playing field across various areas of the entertainment industry and the enormous potential for cross monetization with his other corporate entities, he formed a diversified media group (Hensley Entertainment, Inc.) and entered the arenas of music, television and film.
Music
Hensley Records was formed in 2009. In the first year of existence, the record label signed ten recording artists representing goth, alternative, pop and R&B genres. The most notable act is the band Crush 333 out of Long Beach, California.
Television and Film
In 2010, Hensley founded Charles B. Hensley Productions, an independent television and film production company, specializing in television, documentaries and feature films. Hensley has recently formed an alliance with director-producer Arthur Allan Seidelman for both film and theatre. Their first joint project is the feature BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL with screenplay by award winning writer Richard Alfieri.
