List of Blueberry characters

This is a list of the main characters of the Blueberry series, with their basic characteristics, their role in the series and their contribution in the plot. Only the characters of the main series are presented, not from the series The Young Blueberry, Marshall Blueberry nor Mister Blueberry. The number of appearances of each characters is that of the original Blegian publication.

Heroes

Mike Steve Blueberry is the main character of the eponymous series.

Jimmy McLure is an old prospector of gold, he is above all a great drunker. Blueberry was advised by General Crook to ask him for some informations about Indians, because he was known as a specialist of the matter. Best Blueberry's friend, he helped him in several of his adventures, often saving him, but also causing some unexpected problems. However, in the final part of Blueberry's life, at Tombstone, he do not appear at all. (appears in 10 albums)

"Red Neck", as an expert about Indians matters, was sent by General Dodge to Fort-Navajo to meet Lieutenant Blueberry. From then, he helped him in some of his missions. Much more introverted and lonesome than Mclure, he is though a faithful Blueberry's friend. (appears in 10 albums)

Recurring characters

Angel Face is a serial killer and young handsome man, hired to assassinate President Grant. Blueberry damaged much of his face by putting it in a fire. Angel Face then promised to do the same to him. He was finally killed by Blueberry, in an intense duel. (appears in 3 albums)

Wally Blunt, with his mate and partner Cole Timbley, was a smart serial killer. Searching for the golden mine of the Superstition Mounts, he chased Prosit Luckner and force him to led him at the mine, but he was killed by a snake put by Prosit in his boot. (appears in 2 albums)

Captain Finley is a former Confederate officer. Instead of surrender, he fled to Mexique where he looted with his band. In 1868, he helped Blueberry destroying a Mexican convoy of arms destined to the Apaches, contributing to establish peace again. In 1869, searching for the Confederate treasury, he became Blueberry's rival but he was killed. (appears in 5 albums)

Chihuahua Pearl is a former chorus girl. She was wooed by Lopez, a governor of prison, and was ready to marry him for money. However, she became more interested in the treasury of the Confederates, and occasionally got allied with Blueberry. Blueberry later fell in love with her, but did not succeeded in marry her. (appears in 5 albums)

Chini is Cochise's daughter. Vittorio and Blueberry got engaged in a hard competition to marry her to succeed Cochise. She played an important role during the move of her tribe toward Mexique, in winter 1871/1872. (appears in 3 albums)

Cochise in the chief of the Navajo tribe. In 1867, he waged war against the American army after it convicted several Indian chiefs. Trusting Blueberry who urged him to sign peace, he finally accepted it. In 1870, he greet Blueerry, wanted as an outlaw, in his tribe. He died in 1872, after his tribe reached the Mexican territory. Crowe is a sergeant in the American Army, at Fort Navajo. From Indian origin, he is hated by Major Balcom. He deserted from the army during the war against Indians in 1868 and set free many convicted Indians chiefs. He then helped Blueberry achieve peace with Cochise, for which he was killed by Aigle Solitaire. (appears in 4 albums)

General Allister, determined to exterminate Indians tribes, was sent by Washington to submit Indians in 1867. He could not prevent the peace to be signed. Later, he tried to assassinate President Grant. (appears in 3 albums)

General Dodge has always been a strong support for Blueberry. He notably helped him being rehabilitated. Trusting him much, he entrusted him with the mission of avoiding a war with Indians in 1868, at a time when he led the Union Pacific. (appears in 6 albums)

Jethro Diamond "Steelfinger" is an outlaw who . His nickname is due to his hand in steel -after his hand was cut by Indians- which is a dangerous and efficient arm in fights. was hired by the Central Pacific to block Union Pacific's advance. For that, he slaughtered bison with his band and ascribed this crime to Union Pacific members, to trigger a war with Indians. He succeeded in making the Sioux and Cheyennes wage war against Whites in 1868. Once peace was achieved, he was finally killed by Sitting-Bull in a duel. (appears in 3 albums)

Lieutenant Graig is the son of General Graig. Inexperienced, he was caught by Indians during the war, then set free by Blueberry. Then he helped Blueberry achieved peace by defending and supporting him. (appears in 4 albums)

Guffie Palmer is an actress and the manager of the most famous America theatre troupe in the late 1860s. Jethro Steelfinger robbed her of her money in 1858, while he had promised her they would get married. Blueberry saved her from the Indians during the war in 1868. In 1869, they met again, when Guffie saved Mike near the Superstition Mounts, in the desert. In 1870, Blueberry sought refuge at Santa Fe, where she were living. Abandoned, Guffie is unwillingly part of a band of criminals who search for assassinating President Grant. She succeeded in saving the latest -who once had been her lover- but lost his life at the same time. (appears in 4 albums)

Lone Eagle, cruel Indian and determined to defeat the Whites, he made its best to urge Indians to wage war in 1868. He succeeded in being hired by the American Army to . One of the most Blueberry's enemy, he killed Crowe, an American officer of Indian origin and Mike's friend, and promised to kill also Blueberry. The latest finally defeated and killed him in a memorable duel. (appears in 3 albums)

Prosit Luckner is a German prospector who believes in the existence of a golden mine in the Superstition Mounts. He finally reached this mine, but Blueberry prevented him to benefit from it and sent him in jail, has he achieved his aim by killing many of his partners. (appears in 2 albums)

Vigo is a Mexican commodante. He was charged by his government to find out the booty gathered and hid in Mexique by the Confederates at the end of the Civil War. Then he was searched by Blueberry, because he was the only man who could rehabilitate him and prove his innocence. (appears in 4 albums)

Non-fictional characters

As a realistic comics series, Blueberry feature many real-life characters who left their imprint in the History of United States. Among them are General Dodge, Cochise, Sitting Bull and President Grant.
