Structure
Death, warfare ,madness/sadness and the afterlife are the main topics explored throughout the album, with songs such as "Swallowing Pillows", "Unborn" and "Death To Be Written" which is pre-suicidal, "Missing Crown" which is based on the movie, "The Man Who Would Be King". "Amytis" portrays the story of the hanging gardens of babylon through a different point of view. The album also features 3 instrumentals which have been played in all most all Hanging Garden concerts since its release. And songs like "Paper Grenade" portrays plot that ultimately leads to war and mass killing. The album includes songs from their 3 song demo, such as "Chaos Theory", "Waiting For Your Death" and "Amytis", except better crafted and altered lyrics at few points. The band was praised for their lyrics and musical performance but the one that they faced major criticism for their live performance. As during the tour, guitarist Ace abruptly left the band, and was replaced by touring guitarist Joey Albert. Causing the band chemistry to be effected, Ace later rejoined Hanging Garden in October 2008 and they got their act together and their performance got better. On the song "Unborn", there is only Michael Young on guitar as other guitarist Ace left at the time. The song is done differently in live, with added solos by both Michael and Ace.
