Champak (Hindi: चंपक) is a popular monthly magazine for children published by the Delhi Press Group since 1968 in India.[1] Champak competes with Amar Chitra Katha's Tinkle and Geodesic's Chandamama brands of magazines. Champak is published twice a month and is a colorfull magazine which attracts many of the children who love to read the stories.

History

Champak was founded by Vishwa Nath. The first edition of Champak was released in 1968 and got instant fame thereafter. At that time, Champak competed with Chandamama, one of the best selling magazines at that time. In 1980, the third competitor, Tinkle was released. Yet till now, Champak remains one of the favourite magazines of children in India.[2]

A CD is given free of cost with a pack of Multimedia Edition Champak. The CD contains games and activities for a child to learn.

Contests

Champak has also been conducting Story Writing Contests for children under 12 years old since 2008. The final round is held in Delhi. The winner of all the 3 contests held are the 2 brothers, Shaurya Singh & Vatsa Singh, from Khatima, a town in Uttrakhand.
