Lums adventure society

LUMS Adventure Society (LAS) was formed by students of LUMS in October 1998. Since then, members of LAS have upheld the traditions of adventure and spirited participation within the students, alumni and faculty of LUMS. Every year, LAS organizes several trips and expeditions to various locations in Pakistan. The enthusiasm of the participants of these endeavors to face the physical and mental challenges that entail is what has essentially made a success not just as a student society but as a body that is known nationally for its efforts to promote and offer adventure activities. We believe that the nature of our activities offers a unique experience, one that offers the lessons of traveling and survival, the leisure of visiting several breathtaking locations of our country and the experience of leading and participating in communal activities of diverse groups .LAS is proud to celebrate its achievements over the years and the courage and spirits of its members and the participants of trips.

LAS is the second largest society of LUMS and are by far one of its kind in comparison to other societies throughout different universities in Pakistan. Over the years LAS has achieved some remarkable accomplishment, some of these include the “first Pakistani ascent of Skam La pass (5630 meters)” and the “first urban Pakistani female ascent of Minglik Sar peak (6100 meters)”. Apart from mountaineering it also organizes events like rock climbing, skiing, ice climbing, paragliding, trekking, water sports etc. These are organized at a quarterly frequency – including weekend trips to trips lasting over the entire quarter break, as well as month long summer expeditions.

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is one of the top educational institutions of Pakistan. It has not only established academic standards par excellence, but has also established a strong foothold in the realm of extracurricular activities. We at LUMS believe in the merits of extracurricular for the development of a balanced individual. For these activities there are various student based societies catering to the diversified needs and interests of the entire student body. One of the most dominant and active societies at LUMS is LUMS Adventure Society (LAS).
