Anthropology at St Andrews

Anthropology at St Andrews

The Anthropology Department at the University of St Andrews is diverse in terms of research interests [Link to the diverse staff profiles [http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/anthropology/dept/staff/] ] and forward-looking in terms of its approach to anthropology [See, for example, the work of Professor Nigel Rapport [http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/anthropology/dept/staff/?staffid=146] ] . This diversity can be confirmed by the sheer number of research areas within the department [See the departmental research map [http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/anthropology/dept/researchmap/] ] . There has been a lot of recognition given to the department by research councils such as the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) in the last years and the department has achieved high standings in the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) [RAE 2001 website [http://www.hero.ac.uk/rae/] ] , something that highlights its quality.
