The Government of India has a separate Ministry for New and Renewable Energy [MNRE] . Also the US Department of Energy has separate Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy group [USEERN] .

Various Oil Companies have started using Solar Energy for the Operation of Petrol Stations [Amoco] [BP Amoco] [BP] . Indian Oil Companies like IOCL, BPCL and HPCL have also started implementing the solar technologies for operation of Petrol Stations / Retail Outlets.
