21 October 1970 ,Lichfield ,Staffordshire ) is an English former footballright back who played played professional football in England for a number of years before moving to Asia and playing in local Asian leagues besides representing Hong Kong.Paul started his career in the youth ranks alongside
Alan Shearer . However, he signed his first professional contract with Birmingham City and inspite of being with the club for 4 years (including a year with the first team), he never started a game with them. After brief spells with Cheltenham and Exeter (on a non-contract basis), he then moved toStockport County andDoncaster Rovers , with whom he played 7 and 9 games respectively. He then played 6 games with Preston North End along side future Lilywhites managerDavid Moyes . He finished off his playing days in Britain with brief spells atBromsgrove Rovers andLimerick FC , with the latter spell as a player-coach.He then moved to
Hong Kong , where he played for played for the Sing Tao Sports Club as well as for the Hong Kong national side taking on the likes ofSampdoria ,Inter Milan and the Yugoslavian national side. He finished off his playing career by playing professional football in Singapore with clubs such asJurong F.C. ,Balestier Khalsa FC andTanjong Pagar United FC .Masefield also owns his own company that acts as a coaching school for kids. Paul is also a pundit onto the ESPN STAR Sports coverage of the
English Premier League .He currently lives in Singapore with his wife Stephanie and children.
