Kinderhook Academy

Kinderhook Academy was established on May 1, 1754 by Albrecht Von Kinderhook, a Jesuit missionary from Klaschmencheit, Germany. It is situated on top of a hill in Mechanicsville, Vermont, about three hours east of Lake Champlain. [http://vermont.hometownlocator.com/VT/Chittenden/Mechanicsville.cfm]

Early Years

Albrecht Von Kinderhook originally established the school to be a seminary, and in its first year, it drew in almost a hundred students, the first of whom graduated in 1756. The school was gradually transformed into a premier college of the arts.
