- William Foxwist
William Foxwist (1610 – 1673?) was a Welsh judge and politician in the seventeenth century.
Life
Foxwist was born in 1610 in
Caernarvon , Wales. He matriculated atJesus College, Oxford in 1628 and then became abarrister , joiningLincoln's Inn in 1636 and beingcalled to the bar in 1645. He was Recorder ofSt Albans and aBencher of Lincoln's Inn. In 1646, he became judge of the admiralty for North Wales, and later served aspuisne justice of theBrecknock circuit (1655–1659) and judge advocate of theChester circuit (1660). He was MP for Caernarfon (1647–1648), Anglesey (1654–1655, during theFirst Protectorate Parliament ), Swansea (1659) and St Albans (1660). He was regarded as a moderate Parliamentarian. Although the date of his death is unknown, his will was dated 1673 and was proved in the same year.
