Life

Foxwist was born in 1610 in Caernarvon, Wales. He matriculated at Jesus College, Oxford in 1628 and then became a barrister, joining Lincoln's Inn in 1636 and being called to the bar in 1645. He was Recorder of St Albans and a Bencher of Lincoln's Inn. In 1646, he became judge of the admiralty for North Wales, and later served as puisne justice of the Brecknock circuit (1655–1659) and judge advocate of the Chester circuit (1660). He was MP for Caernarfon (1647–1648), Anglesey (1654–1655, during the First Protectorate Parliament), Swansea (1659) and St Albans (1660). He was regarded as a moderate Parliamentarian. Although the date of his death is unknown, his will was dated 1673 and was proved in the same year.
