The Hori 440 is an annual one day event organised by the Waikato Student Union. The event involves a road trip of
Waikato University students in cars travelling around the central North Island of New Zealand. The inaugural Hori is set to take place in October 2008. It is characterized by the effort taken in preparing themed vehicles and costumes, generally with vehicles worth less then $500. Undie 500 Car Rally . Originally the trip was meant to take place fromWaikato University in Hamilton toMassey University in Palmerston North, however Massey University pulled out with only a few weeks from the event, worried that disruption would occur in hosting students from another city. Various pit stops are made at these locations along the trip, involving challenges and activities for participants including the 'Labyrinth', a 3D maze in Rotorua. There are three major prizes including the best dressed, best themed vehicle, and the people's choice award. The main sponsors for the rally include
V (drink) ,Domino's Pizza andZM radio station, who each sponsor one of the major prizes.References
