Pork is an Argentine post-grunge/Metal band.

The band was started in 2002 by the Bar Rabia twins Cesar Bar Rabia on vocals, Ton Bar Rabia on guitar along with friends Nino Conde on guitar, David Ortiz on bass and Paulo Torres on drums.

In August 2006, Pork supported American band Fear Factory at the Pepsi Stadium in Buenos Aires drawing the attention of Alejandro Taranto, a renowned executive producer for bands such as A.N.I.M.A.L. and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, and later had Pork signed on to TommyGun Entertainment and Universal Music Argentina to record their debut album.

The recording sessions took place between April and June 2007 at "Del Cielito Studio" now owned by local band Bersuit Vergarabat. The post-production and mastering was in charge of Eduardo Bergallo.

The album was released in may 2008 and was titled "Multiple Choice" [http://www.mtvla.com/bands/az/pork/2287540/album.jhtml MTV list of pork's albums] . The track#1 "Akira" was chosen to be their first single and a video involving an anime character and the band can be seen on MTV and Much Music.

History

In 1994, 13-year-old twins, Cesar and Ton Bar Rabia, play live for their first time in Maryland, United States. More precisely at Tilden Middle School in Rockville, MD. where they went to school.In 1996 the twins move to Buenos Aires to continue with their high school and musical studies.

Influenced by the outburst of the grunge scene in the United States, they each started a rock band separately and joined forces by late 1998 to form Pork with Cesar on vocals, Ton on guitar and friends from school David Ortiz on bass, Nino Conde on guitars, and Paulo Torres on the drums.

However, being only 17, the band members encountered differences in their efforts to grow as a band and in 1999 the all parted their ways voluntarily on the ground that they would reunite once proper commitment was derived onto the project.

By 2002 all the original band members were back together rehearsing, and by the beginning of 2003 they started a local tour with a demo containing 4 original songs. The buzz soon spread and the 1000 demo copies were sold out in 3 months. This led to the recording of a second demo including 7 new original songs released only 10 months after. By 2004, after touring through cities in the Buenos Aires area, Pork was recognized as one the most popular local bands, selling out clubs and small theaters.

In 2005, the band decided it was time to start recording their debut album. Followed by their local success, some of Pork’s members thought it best to continue with their album in an “independent” manner whereas other members thought that looking for a record deal would be better. The band booked studio time and began producing their album. Short after, they decided that they needed to land a record deal, so they left the studio. Several offers came, but the band had always been reluctant to sign and they were all soon disregarder. To please fans, the band decided to put out a final demo with cover solngs and play another tour. Versions of songs like The Beatles’ “I Me Mine”, a Megadeth Medley, and Sting’s “Englishman in New York” called “Latinman in NY” among other cover songs, gave proof of Pork’s creativeness and openness to a broad spectrum of music.

In August 2006, Pork was invited to support American band Fear Factory by company Icarus Music. While on the gig, they met with renowned producer Alejandro Taranto who immediately saw the potential and international projection of the band. Mr. Taranto offered the band to record their debut album and they were signed to TommyGun and Universal Music for its release.

The recording of the album took place between April and June 2007 at famous “Del Cielito” Studio and was released in 2008 under the name of “Multiple Choice”. Cesar explains that the chosen name has to do with the music contained in the album. -“We have always mingled with different styles and influences, I love the song “Two to Tango”, a true combination of Heavy Rock and Tango”-The album also contains two beautiful ballads: “Hazardous Dangerous” and “Pretending” which, together with tracks such as “Bloody Mary” and “The Wake” with heavy riffs and vocal harmony, reach out to a wide variety of fans.

The first single off the album was chosen to be “Akira” and a video was shot where a perturbed anime character can be seen with the band. It is nowadays being aired by MTV, VH1, and Much Music.

In June 2008, the album was presented at “La Trastienda Theater” with excellent critics.In July 2008, the band was invited to play on an MTV sponsored festival called MTV Adolescent Fest.In October 2008, the band played right before Nine Inch Nails at the Pepsi Music 2008 Concert.

Pork will be playing Much Music’s “Ya Fest” in November and will continue their tour that ends December 13th.
