Powered skydiving

Powered skydiving

Powered skydiving is where skydivers jump out of airplanes wearing some form of propulsion in an effort to essentially fly their bodies. A number of efforts have been made by wingsuit flyers (see http://www.Dropzone.com) to sustain altitude. With most the lift is proivided by a parachute or paraglider, but the most successful was Yves Rossy, who jumped out of an airplane with airplane-type rigid wings with 4 small jet motors attached: see Jet pack#Yves Rossy's jetpack.
