The Ambassador's Mission

"The Ambassador's Mission" is a forthcoming fantasy novel by author Trudi Canavan. It will form part of her Kyralia series and act as a sequel to The Black Magician Trilogy. The Ambassador's Mission returns to the themes of the "Black Magician Series" it is about Sonea, Lorkin (Sonea and Akkarin's son) and a new character Gillia one of the many slum dwellers who were allowed to join the guild because she had a lot of magical potential.

Plot introduction

Sonea is horrified when her son volunteers to join a group of Guild Ambassadors travelling to Sachaka.When word comes that he had gone missing she is desperate to find him, but one of the Guild's rules is that black magicians can't leave Imardin.

Gillia a novice from the servant class is mostly ignored in the quarrells between low class novices and high class novices. She and her friend are more interested in hidden knowledge. when her friend finds books on black magic they both can't resist experimenting.

Robes

In the book magicians wear different robes depending on their chosen discipline. The colours are:

*Red, for Warrior
*Green, for Healing
*Purple, for Alchemists
*Brown, for novices who have yet to choose a discipline

There are also colours for detonating rank:

*Black sashes, for Head of discipline
*Blue, for the Administator
*Black, for the High Lord
*Gold, for the King's advisors
