Colony of Gamers (CoG) is a video game community and the hub of the CoG affiliate network. Founded September 2008 [http://www.co-optimus.com/article/597/Introducing_Colony_of_Gamers_Website.html] by former Evil Avatar staff and members, Colony of Gamers was created solely with "the community" at its epicenter. The CoG affiliate network is comprised of distinguished websites dedicated to the contirbution of community content which compliment other CoG network content.

Content

Colony of Gamers is setup in 4 major sections: User blogs, user forums, gaming news, and featured original content. The front page of Colony of Gamers content is managed by the CoG staff. Original articles and news are submitted to the CoG staff for editing and review prior to being published to the front page feed. Game reviews are written by the CoG staff and submitted as featured original content to the front page and user forums. Registered users that post more than 25 posts are promoted from a "Junior Member" to a "Member" status allowing them to post personal blogs on the site. User forums serve as a stomping ground for members to discuss issues, to sharing retail deals, trading games, and meeting up with other members to co-ordinate gaming outings and events.

The Community

The founders of Colony of Gamers stress the importance of its backbone, the community. CoGs, or colonists are valued as the sites most valuable asset. The community organizes and supports guilds, groups, discussions, meet-ups, and much more.
