medaltemplates=Steve Frew (born
6 February 1973 ,Falkirk ) is a Scottishgymnast .He took gold in the men's rings at the
2002 Commonwealth Games inManchester ,England at the age of 30. He competed in his fifth Games inMelbourne in 2006, where he narrowly missed out on bronze in the team event.His 2002 victory was significant as he had only been able to devote himself to gymnastics part time, owing to limited funding for the sport in Scotland. As such, he was only expected to take bronze at best. Frew has since spoken out against the chronic underfunding of gymnastics in Scotland.
