Amersfoort Schothorst is a railway station on the Amersfoort to Zwolle Centraalspoorweg main line. It is located in north Amersfoort, the Netherlands. The station is operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS).
History
The station opened in 1987, and is a suburb station of the main Amersfoort railway station. The station lies in the area around the suburbs of Schothorst, Rustenburg and the industrial area called De Hoef.
Until May 2006, this station was the terminus station for many trains from first Hoofddorp direction. This service changed to Alkmaar to Amersfoort Schothorst. In May 2006 the next station, Amersfoort Vathorst, was built just north of Schothorst station.
For the terminating trains, a third track was built at the station. However since the trains have continued to Vathorst, this platform was therefore no needed. Now though there is an Intercity from Schothorst station to Rotterdam Centraal.
